Let's sing with McKay!

Dear Saturday Salon Friends,

I want to let you all know how much I appreciate the time we spend singing and learning together. Our Saturday song time is something that I really look forward to. I've enjoyed music all my life, and many of the songs that we sing, are songs that I listened to as a child. I can remember being about 9 years old, lying in bed on warm summer nights in the loft of my grandparents cabin by a lake in rural Maine. There in the dark I would turn the radio dial and let they sounds of the world flood into the room. On a good night I could hear stations from many American cities and sometimes from foreign countries as well.

I listened to baseball games and imagined that I was there. I heard news reports and pondered what it all meant, but most often I listened to the popular music of the day. Paul McCartney and Wings, the Carpenters, Elton John, John Denver… I absorbed all of it and my imagination soared. I saw the world as a vast and wonderful place, and felt my own horizons expanding into it. This is the kind of feeling I hope that you will have attending the Saturday Salon. Through music, and talking to people from all over, I want you to feel connected to the larger world and be inspired to follow your imagination.

Best Wishes,

Charles McKay
